You don’t need extensive grounds or a tropical climate to design a backyard paradise. Even the most modest outdoor spaces can transform into verdant, lively escapes with a dash of imagination and astute planning.
Incorporate a Hanging Seat
For any compact tropical space, a hanging seat is a location to loosen up and take in the lush nearby plants. It’s my preferred feature.
Small Seating Set with a Vision
Create a relaxed sitting area using a small table and chairs, which are surrounded by verdant plants. It’s a tactic that increases one’s enjoyment of the outdoor space’s appeal.
Incorporate Vertical Greenery
When area is at a premium, use the vertical dimension! Put in place a vertical garden on any fence or wall, and fill it with assorted lush plants like ferns and philodendrons. I’ve found this is a great approach in my projects to add liveliness to small areas.
Incorporate Tropical Illumination
Make use of delicate illumination like string lights or lanterns to make an inviting atmosphere. The glow from a tropical twilight inspires me.
Construct a Miniature Jungle by a Window
Turn the space under your windows into a mini jungle by planting greenery of varied textures and dimensions. The towering Andes flora, with their bright colored foliage, provides an eye-catching backdrop.
Layered Greenery for Depth
Make use of layering to add dimension and draw attention. Start with towering palms at the end and then work forward using average-sized bushes and ground coverings.
Make Use of Reflectors to Enlarge Area
Strategically positioned reflectors can reflect the plants, causing a compact outdoor space to appear more spacious. In urban designs, I like to use this hack.
Plant a Banana Plant in a Pot
A potted banana plant adds dimension and a clue of the tropics, even on a small patio.
Introduce a Tropical Barrier for Privacy
Provide privacy using a barrier for privacy constructed of wooden pieces or bamboo, then let climbing plants like bougainvillea twist through it for a lush, verdant appearance.
Get Comfortable with a Sling Bed
Hang a sling bed between posts, like trees, and decorate around it with lush plants. It’s my preferred location to loosen up and makes me feel I’m at a tropical location right at my residence.
Make Use of Elegant Lamps
Elegant lamps that are positioned throughout the outdoor space add charm and light up the setting beautifully at night.
Introduce a Tropical Shade
A bright colored shade or awning can offer shelter and give a vibrant burst of color, like a tropical location.
Make Use of Inherent Stone Accents
Disperse inherent stone accents all over the outdoor space for an element that complements all of the lush plants.
Create a Route Using Paving Slabs
Paving slabs that are meandering through the outdoor space give you a feeling of adventure and help you through your tropical paradise.
Include a Petite Water Feature
The delicate sound of flowing water will transform any outdoor space into a peaceful haven. A small water fountain or pond amidst verdant plants will create a focal point.
Make Use of Vivid Containers
Colorful containers can bring a burst of tropical color even to the smallest areas. Group containers for a dynamic display that draws in the eye.
Create a Pebble Tile Art
A pebble tile art can act as an artistic point, which adds texture and awareness to the outdoor space ground.
Include a Tropical Herb Garden
Plant a small herb outdoor space with tropical herbs like lemongrass and basil for a useful and fragrant addition.
Add a Bamboo Protector
A bamboo protector gives privacy and improves the exotic feel.
